Louise Shelton asked:

If you have little kids at home, you know how hard it is to keep them happy. Often you would be left puzzled and wondering as to which thing would completely satisfy them. At one time they would pester you to buy some of the year’s top gadgets as Christmas gifts, but just when you thought that you are relieved, they would demand some Christmas movies, games, and so on! So what to do?

If you are frustrated and don’t know how to satisfy them, make them listen to some wonderful Christmas carols! In this article I am going to tell you about six carols which are especially popular among kids!

1. Joy to the World: Introduce your kid to this song if you haven’t already done so; this is one song which would teach your kid the true meaning and essence of Christmas. This one is in fact my daughter’s favorite carol!

2. Jingle Bells: Of course, who can forget this old classic which has become one with Christmas? The very Christmas season reminds us of this carol. Do you remember the lines: “Dashing through the snow …”? I am sure you do, and so does your kids! The catchy tune of this song and cute lyrics are what draws kids to this lovely ditty!

3. Here Comes Santa Claus: Yet another great song. This carol has a special place in my heart because it is full of hope and promise that Santa would visit the kids and gift them as usual. I still remember how my mom would make me listen to this carol and when I would go to bed she would secretly slip the gifts by my side! You too can do the same with your kids!

4. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: One of the most popular Christmas songs of all times; I think that in terms of popularity among kids, its position is probably next to “Jingle Bells” and “Joy to the World”! Truly mesmerizing!

5. The 12 Days of Christmas: If someone says that he or she forgot about this old Christmas carol, they would be lying. This is as famous and integral to the Christmas Eve as “Jingle Bells”.

6. Frosty the Snowman: If your kid is particularly fond of creating snowmen, this is one song that I can guarantee would make him overjoyed! After all, could anything be more joyful for a kid than the joy of creating white snowmen with parents and listening to this catchy Christmas carol? I don’t think so!

John Robert asked:

Changing electric guitar strings is not a hard thing to do, but deciding which kinds of strings to buy can be more confusing than you might think. Over the years I have been asked by several students “what are the best electric guitar strings?” That can be a difficult question to answer because obviously different players have different preferences. Some just stick with what they have been playing with from the beginning and some might experiment until they find a string they like. Below I will tell you what I believe to be the best electric guitar strings and the reasons why I feel that way.

The best electric guitar strings in my opinion are GHS boomers. There is three major reasons that I have settled on them as my favorite. First of all they seem to stay in tune a lot longer than other strings I have tried. This is very important to me because many of my guitars have floating bridges. Many of the strings I have used in the past have gone out of tune on me when the whammy bar was being used heavily. No matter whether I drop tune, bend, stretch or dive the strings they rarely ever lose their pitch.

The second important factor that led me to name GHS the best electric guitar strings is their durability. Before I started using boomers I had primarily been using either Ernie Ball super slinky’s and DR’s. The problem was that I was breaking them all the time. Even the heavier strings would break occasionally. Maybe I was playing a little rough, but nevertheless I needed a string that could handle the abuse. The first time I used GHS I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t broken a string yet.

I usually change strings on a weekly or biweekly schedule depending on how much I have been playing. So I decided to leave them on for a full month to see if they would break. When they didn’t break I knew they were going to be my new secret weapon.

The last thing I love about GHS boomers is they don’t loose their bright new sound. If you have ever just changed one string and left the other old ones on you almost always notice how the new string just seems to sound a lot brighter then the others. All new strings have this quality no matter what brand, but some just keep their tone and sustain longer that others. The boomers definitely live up to this challenge. There’s nothing like the sound of a new set of strings that you put on two weeks ago. : – )

So there you have it. The best electric guitar strings in my opinion and why I think they’re so great. I encourage you to try them for yourself, but don’t just settle on them because I like them. Experiment with other brands so then you’ll know why they really are the best electric guitar strings.

Cynthia VanLandingham asked:

Because of the many benefits of piano lessons for young children, parents don’t want to wait too long before enrolling their kids in piano. They do want to be sure, however, that their young child is old enough to benefit from formal musical training. Fortunately, making this decision is a straightforward process.

Because playing piano is an inter-play of left and right brain activity some basic language and math skills are very helpful. Your child will need to know all of these to succeed in school as well as to begin piano. And in turn learning to play the piano will improve your child’s overall educational achievement in school. Below are five things kids need to know to begin piano lessons and some resources parents can use at home to prepare young children for lessons.

1. Knows the alphabet (music alphabet is the first seven letters.)

Knowing the alphabet is important because it is foundational to music theory. Notes, sounds, and the piano keys are identified by their letter names.

2. Identifies and counts numbers 1 to 10.

Knowing their numbers is necessary to learn note values as well as for fingering. For example, “Play this note with finger number 2.”

3. Knows opposites – up and down; right and left; high sounds and low sounds.

Opposites give necessary perspective to important musical concepts.

4. Likes to play one key on the piano at a time, and listens to the sound each makes.

If your child is attracted to the piano, and out of curiosity enjoys playing the keys one at a time to hear their sounds, and likes to experiment a little, they are ready for piano. If your child, however, simply runs to the piano and starts banging on the keys with their fists, they are probably not quite ready to be a thoughtful piano student.

5. Is beginning to read.

Music always tells a story, so being able to read and sing the fun stories that often go along with beginning piano music is very helpful for young children. This develops the ear and gives context and meaning to each piece of music. This is what makes piano fun for kids.
